WELCOME TO NBHA NORTH CAROLINA DISTRICT 01

FROM TIMMY AND TAMMY MOYE, DISTRICT DIRECTORS

We are really glad to have you join NC District 01, which we feel is one of the best anywhere.  As director, I would like to welcome you personally and to take this opportunity to thank you for joining us.  If there is anything we can do to help you in any way, please feel free to ask.

Here on our website, you will find loads of useful information, including our members’ names, addresses and phone numbers, directions to show locations, a  schedule of shows for this year, show results, year-to-date standings, news items, classified ads, birthdays, links to other sites of interest (including those of our sponsors) lots and lots of photos and ads from our sponsors.  We wouldn’t be here without the generosity of those sponsors, and we all appreciate your patronizing them whenever possible. Be sure to say thank you when you do business with them!

District 01 co-sanctions some of its shows with District 07.  A complete show schedule here on the website and in the Carolina Barrel Horse News, which is published and mailed monthly during the first two weeks of each month.  Cost for the CBHN is only $12.00 per year for members, and it brings important news from both North and South Carolina districts, as well as photos of members and events.  So if you haven’t already, please remember to give $12.00  to me for your subscription.  The CBHN also has a website, www.cbhnews.com.

We’re proud that our District awarded over $16,000 worth of awards to our World Qualifiers and District members in 2007, including saddles, buckles and other trophy items.  We raise the money for these awards in many ways: auction items such as cakes and pies, gift certificates, western merchandise, tack and apparel are always welcome.  Also, we sell “half-and-half” raffle tickets and “$2 and $5” chance boards at each show.  We save Nutrena and Southern States feed label “proofs-of-purchase,” Quest and Zimectrin boxes as well as register with the Food Lion MVP card and Country Supply websites in order to participate in their rebate programs.  All of these help assure us of an ongoing awards program.

We also give awards to our “Top Hands,” those who help so much in recruiting new members, setting barrels, selling half-and-half tickets, saving labels and raising money, etc.  As with our sponsors, we wouldn’t exist without their support.

Last year, we cleared over $5,000 from our NC 01 Fundraiser shows held at Moye Fence Company Arena.  Thank you to our show sponsors:  Parker Landscaping, Morris Pollock, Bynum's Pharmacy, Tina Ezzell,  David Eastwood and Promised Land Stables, Amber Grain Feeds of Goldsboro, Douglas W. Farmer & Son, Inc. Construction and Becky & Mark Mundy. Special thanks also to Keith and Joan Lamm for donating and cooking the pig for our concession stand and thanks for all the member participation.

In addition, our NC01 photographer, Chris Palmer, takes action photos at our outdoor shows. She brings those pictures to subsequent shows, where they are for sale at only $4.00 each. Many of those make their way into our annual calendar. Both ventures have proven to be terrific fundraisers for the district, as well as lots of fun for the members. Our annual Member Directory and Guide is yet another popular source of awards money for NC01. Chris is also available to take posed pictures, whether at a show or elsewhere. She can also provide prints in any size and CD's for your computer.

We would also like to recognize our 2007 saddle sponsors:  Thompson Farrier Service, Mule City Feeds, and Longhorn Steakhouse of Raleigh. Special thanks also to Chuck Finklea/State Farm Insurance and to New Hope Digital & Chris Palmer (our webmaster) for their support of our district. So far for 2008, we already have two saddle sponsors, Roger's Towing, and JYMCO Trailer Sales.

The Members’ Notebook is available at every show at or near the entry booth.  It contains up-to-date information regarding shows, points, news from NBHA Headquarters, the Treasurer’s report and more.  If you need to turn in money, forms, CBHN dues, labels or anything else, please put them in an envelope and place them in the notebook or give them to me personally.

In closing, I invite you to call or e-mail me whenever you have a question or a concern.  I work out of my home with Moye Fence Company and can also be reached on my cell phone.  I check my email daily also.  I always send points and other updates to members who have provided me an email address, so if you’d like to be included on my email mailing list, please make sure I have your correct email address.  Once again, welcome!
